Spalding Esports Week 4
Week 4 of the Spring esports season brought a mix of challenges and momentum shifts for Spalding Esports. While Apex experienced a tough outing, Fortnite showed signs of a strong bounce-back, and College Football secured a decisive 2–0 victory. Rocket League had the week off but is preparing for a big doubleheader in Week 5.
Apex Legends
Week 4 was a tough week for Apex as the team worked through difficult rotations and tough lobby pressure across all six games.
The first three matches on E-District  resulted in finishes of 16th, 18th, and 10th. The final three games on Storm Point saw placements of 14th, 15th, and 17th.
Despite the results,
Alyssa Smallwood led the team with 2 eliminations and 2 knocks. As a squad, they accumulated 6 points on the night. They currently sit at 49th out of 57 teams.Â
Fortnite
After a challenging Week 3, the duo came in focused and adjusted their approach to rotations and storm surge management. Across their three games, they finished 11th, 2nd, and 27th.
The pair totaled 4 eliminations and added 94 points on the night. Their season total now sits at 437 points, placing them 23 out of 136 teams overall.
Even though they finished game three without earning any points this week, they still showed resilience and bounced back with 30 more points than last week. This showed clear improvement that they hope to continue into Week 5 and beyond.
College Football
Matthew Judkins delivered the highlight result of the week, earning a 2–0 match victory in dominant fashion in his Week 4 College Football match up.
In Game 1, Matt controlled the tempo early, getting out in front of his opponent with early scores and forcing turnovers. Matt's IU team continually stayed in front of his opponent's Michigan squad. Matt ended the first game in possession of the ball leaving the score at 28-20.Â
In Game 2 Matt was able to get out to an early two score lead with his Ohio State team against the opponent's Utah team. This time the opponent was able to fight back, he tied the game at 21 midway through the second quarter. Matt had enough time on the clock and he was able to take the ball down the field and score just before halftime. From there Matt maintained control and took the second game 38-31.Â
The win improves his overall season record to 3-1 and provides strong momentum heading into next week's match up.Â
