Spalding Esports Week 5

Week 7 marked the final week of the regular season for Spalding Esports, bringing a close to the opening chapter of competition this spring. With postseason implications on the line, every match carried added weight. While some teams saw their seasons come to an end, others are still pushing forward with playoff opportunities ahead.

Apex Legends

The Apex Legends squad wrapped up their regular season in Week 7, closing out a campaign filled with growth and learning experiences.

In their final set of matches, the teams played on E-Disctrict and Storm Point, finishing 12th, 8th and 12th in the first three games, followed by 8th, 7th, and 13th in the final three.

Although the results didn't fall in their favor this week, the foundation built throughout the season set a strong baseline for future competition.

Fortnite

Heading into the final week of the regular season, Andrew Bland and Evan Orr delivered when it mattered most. Across their three games, they finished 18th, 14th, and 16th, totaling 1 elimination and 62 points on the night.

That performance brings their season total to 713 points, securing a spot in the semifinals. They finished the season placing 27th out of 170 teams that competed through the semester.

While there is still room to refine late-game execution and maximize elimination opportunities, the duo has proven they can compete at a high level. Their focus now shifts to making a deep playoff run.

College Football

Matthew Judkins closed out the regular season with a tough 1-2 loss to Mississippi State University, but his season is not over yet.

Matt lost a close game one after going back and forth with the opponent, coming down to the very end of the fourth quarter. Game two was different, this time Matt was able to set the pace and keep a lead throughout the game. In game three the opponent got out ahead in the first quarter, and despite his best efforts Matt was unable to bounce back losing the series 1-2.

Despite the loss, Matt has qualified for the play-in bracket, giving him another opportunity to extend his season. With adjustments and preparation, he will look to bounce back in postseason play.

Rocket League

Rocket League concluded its regular season in Week 7 with a hard-fought series that ultimately ended in defeat. They faced off against Fanshawe College, the number one ranked team in our division.

The Golden Eagles battled throughout the match, with game scores of 2-4, 1-4, 0-6, 1-7.

Michael Griffin led the way with 2 goals and 8 shots on net, while Malakhi Barton and Evan Orr each added a goal of their own through the series.

Although the result marked the end of their season, the team showed clear development over the course of the schedule, highlighted by their resilience and ability to compete in high-pressure moments.
