LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding Esports capped off its ECAC Fortnite season with a major milestone, qualifying two duos for the ECAC Fortnite Finals in the program's first semester of competition.The two duos automatically advanced to the finals after finishing in the top 35 out of 169 teams.
Throughout the regular season, the duo of
Andrew Bland and
Evan Orr set the tone with consistent performances week after week. Their ability to navigate mid-game rotations, manage resources effectively, and consistently have endgame showings allowed them to remain competitive across the season and earn a well-deserved spot in the finals, finishing twenty-fifth in the regular season.That balance proved critical to the duo's success and helped establish them as one of the program's most reliable pairings.
Spalding's second duo of
Davieon Bowyer and
Matthew Judkins followed a different, but equally impressive, path to the finals. As the season progressed, their chemistry and communication improved significantly, culminating in a late-season push that secured their place in finals competition.Where they sometimes lacked in placement points they were able to more than make up for it with their eliminations, finishing twenty-eighth in the regular season.
While neither duo achieved the results they wanted in the finals, making it to that stage in the team's first semester of competition is a statement in itself. These two duos made up of four first years were leaders for the entire esports program. These four worked hard all season and it showed as they held their own in the finals. Andrew & Evan finished forty-second and Davieon & Matthew finished forty-sixth out of the top fifty teams.
With a full semester of experience now behind them, Spalding Fortnite exits the season with a strong foundation and clear momentum heading into the future.
