WILMORE, Ky. - The Spalding Cross Country teams competed at the Asbury Invitational this past weekend.Several athletes posted solid times and gained valuable experience against regional competition. While team scores were not recorded for Spalding, the Golden Eagles were well-represented in both the men's and women's races.
In the women's 6000m,
Bessie Kelley led the way with a time of 27:19.13, placing 16th overall. She was followed by Reganne Piercy, who finished in 27:57.30, and
Azra Sahingoz, clocking 23:50.00.
In the men's 8000m,
Tobias Rice was the top finisher for Spalding, 2nd overall, with a time of 29:09.46. He was followed by
Wyatt Frye (30:42.22) and Jadon Garcia (39:08.04).
With several personal bests and steady performances, the Golden Eagles will look to build momentum heading into their next meet.
The Golden Eagles next meet is Saturday, October 4th. SU will compete in the Louisville Classic.
