SPRINGFIELD, OH. - The Spalding men's and women's cross country teams opened up their season at the Wild Witt Exhibition. The men did not place and the women placed second.
TURNING POINTS
The men were led by junior
Wyatt Frye who crossed the finish line 21st of 34 total racers with a time of 18:39.8. Close behind him were the two Stinson's, each finishing with personal bests.
Noah Stinson finished with a PB of 19:41.3 and
Caleb Stinson finished with a PB of 20:43.4.
Gavin Janning also had a strong showing in Springfield with a PB time of 21:31.4.
The women were led by true freshman
Bessie Kelley whose PB of 18:43.4 had her across the finish line 10th of 28 total racers. Sophomore
Muskan Jamshed set a new PB, crossing the line in 19:55.6, good for a 15th place finish. Freshmen
Eryn Rataiczak,
Braeanna Billups,
Bailey Haws, and
Avory Hamblen ran well in their first collegiate race and will look to build on their results through the season. Sophomore
Reganne Piercey and Senior
Lexie Barthmaier each set PB's with times of 20:34.2 and 21:29.2 respectively.
GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES
- All SU runners finished with PB's for their respective distances (5k men - 4k women).
- Bessie Kelley's PB of 18:43.4 was a new Spalding school record.
