Senior Derek Ferch, a St. Xavier High School product, led the Golden Eagle offense with three hits and three RBIs.

The game got off to a slow start, with no runs being scored until the third by SU. With the bases loaded, Ferch would get his first of three of RBI on a hard hit single to the third baseman that he couldn't handle, bringing in Nate Greenwell. The four-hole batter
Drew Beckman would come to the dish next, and he would single to left field, bringing in
Kyle Whitlock, giving the Golden Eagle Nine the 2-0 lead heading into the fourth.

After a scoreless fourth inning, SU would add on to their lead in the fifth. A single by
Kyle Whitlock with one out would bring
Sam White to the plate. A ball back to the pitcher would cause an errant throw by starting pitcher, Â Vic Newberry, over the first baseman's head, bringing
Kyle Whitlock all the way around to score and advancing
Sam White to third. That would bring up Ferch, who would get his second RBI on the day with a single to left field, scoring
Sam White and extending the SU lead to 4-0 to end the Spalding fifth.

A monstrous five-run sixth inning would give SU a comfortable nine run lead with
Ryan Mosby dominating on the mound. Freshman
Jacob Woodruff would get his first collegiate hit through the right side, also attaining his first collegiate RBI in the process, scoring
Korie Vire from third. Later in the inning with the bases loaded, a hit by pitch by
Sam White would bring in SU's second run of the inning, scoring Woodruff. With the bases still juiced, Ferch would get his third and final RBI on the day, lacing a single through the left side that scored
Ryan Selent. That would bring up
Drew Beckman, who would single to right field, bringing in two runs and extending the SU lead to 9-0.

SU would score an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single by White, and would go on to win the game 10-0 on a spectacular pitching performance by
Ryan Mosby.

The Golden Eagle Nine will be back in action Saturday, March 29 when they resume SLIAC play, hosting a three-game series against Eureka College. First pitch is at 2:00 p.m. EST for Saturday's doubleheader, and Sunday's game will start at 1:00 p.m. EST. Â
