HANOVER, Ind. — The Spalding University men's and women's cross country teams returned to the course this past Saturday, September 12, competing in the Hanover XC Invitational hosted by Hanover College.

Men's 6k 

While the men's team did not field the five runners required to record a team score, two Golden Eagles competed individually in the 6,000-meter race and put up solid efforts in a competitive field.

• Tobias Rice: Led the Spalding men by capturing a top-25 finish, placing 23rd overall with a swift time of 22:11.9 (5:57.2 mile pace).

• Josiah Harris: The freshman gained valuable collegiate racing experience, finishing 51st overall with a time of 26:50.6 (7:12.0 mile pace).

Women's 5k 

The Spalding women's squad secured a 6th place team finish (157 points) in the 5,000-meter event. The team logged a total time of 2:10:54 and averaged 26:10 across their scoring runners. 

The Golden Eagles were paced by a tight pack in their top three:

• Reganne Piercey: Led the team, finishing 31st overall with a time of 23:59.5 (7:43.3 mile pace).

• Bessie Kelley: Crossed the line shortly after in 33rd place with a time of 24:11.2 (7:47.0 mile pace).

• Bailey Haws: Finished right on Kelley's heels in 34th place at 24:18.3 (7:49.3 mile pace).

• Eryn Rataiczak: Placed 43rd overall, clocking in at 25:27.2 (8:11.5 mile pace).

• Azra Sahingoz: Rounded out the team's scoring, placing 66th with a time of 32:58.1 (10:36.6 mile pace).
