WILMORE, Ky. — The Spalding University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Asbury Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by a strong second-place team finish from the women's squad and top-10 individual performances on both sides.
Women's 6K: Golden Eagles Secure Second Place
The Spalding women scored 47 points to earn a 2nd-place team finish over the 6,000-meter course, spearheaded by an impressive top-five individual finish from freshman
Gemma Harkins.
- Gemma Harkins (FR) led the charge for Spalding, crossing the finish line in 25:34.8 to place 5th overall.
- Bailey Haws turned in a solid top-10 performance, taking 10th place with a time of 27:25.9.
- Veteran leadership showcased strong pack running as senior Bessie Kelley (13th, 27:54.9) and senior Reganne Piercy (14th, 28:03.2) finished back-to-back.
- Eryn Rataiczak rounded out the scoring for the Golden Eagles, placing 18th in 29:15.2.
Men's 8K: Rice Leads the Way with Top-10 Finish
On the men's side, junior
Tobias Rice posted a strong individual performance in the 8,000-meter run.
- Tobias Rice (JR) paced Spalding with a 6th-place overall finish, stopping the clock at 30:15.6 (6:05/mile pace).
- Freshman Josiah Harris recorded a 27th-place finish with a time of 36:44.7.
