Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. - Spalding delivered a strong all-around performance in a straight-set sweep of Franklin, 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 26-24), on March 18 at the Spurlock Center, powered by a balanced offensive attack and solid play at the net.
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was
Max Atherton, who turned in an efficient night with a match-high 14 kills while hitting an impressive .419. He was joined offensively by
Aakash Malvankar, who added 11 kills, and
Tye-Anthony Curtis, who chipped in nine kills and an ace to help keep pressure on the Franklin defense.
Spalding's offense was orchestrated by
Brayden Overberg, who dished out 35 assists while also contributing five digs, a kill, and a block presence at the net. Defensively,
Alex Brey anchored the back row with a match-high 14 digs, helping the Golden Eagles control rallies and limit Franklin's scoring opportunities.
At the net,
Khoa Nguyen-Truong was a key factor, recording a match-best seven block assists, while Atherton and Overberg each added four total blocks as Spalding outpaced Franklin in total blocks (10-7).
As a team, Spalding hit .250 with 48 kills and held Franklin to just .118 hitting, showcasing their efficiency on both sides of the ball. The Golden Eagles controlled the first two sets before holding off a late Franklin push in the third, scoring the final two points to secure the sweep.
With the win, Spalding improved to 7-7 on the season.
