LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Former Spalding University men's soccer standout Osman Hussein has been called up to the Somalia National Team ahead of their upcoming AFCON Qualifiers. Hussein joins former University of Louisville player, Haji Abdikadir, on the national team.

Adam Boyer commented, "A huge congratulations to Osman, who has worked incredibly hard to earn this opportunity. He's an unbelievable player and a great young man, and I believe this is just another milestone for Osman as he continues in his soccer career. We all look forward to following his future success on the field!" Boyer continued, "As the head coach at Spalding, it's a reminder of the talent coming through our program on a year-to-year basis." Boyer concluded, "We're so proud to have played a part in Osman's development and love the path he is creating for the next SU student-athlete coming behind him."
During his time at Spalding, Hussein helped lead the Golden Eagles to the first SLIAC regular season championship in program history. In addition, Hussein was named the 2016 SLIAC Offensive Player of the Year, SLIAC Newcomer of the Year and SLIAC First Team All-Conference totaling 30 points, 13 goals and four assists.
