Men’s Soccer pulled off a Gritty 3–2 Win Over Blackburn

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Spalding women's soccer takes down Blackburn, 3-2, in a mid-week SLIAC battle.

SU moved to (4-4-3, 2-1-0 SLIAC), while the Beavers fell to (3-8-0, 0-3-0 SLIAC)

TURNING POINT
The Golden Eagles came out strong, setting the tone early with a dominant first half. Just two minutes into the match, Marlon Amaya buried a penalty kick to give Spalding the early advantage. The Eagles quickly doubled their lead in the seventh minute when Eddie Mendez-Perez found the back of the net off an assist from Amaya. Spalding's offensive pressure continued, and in the 22nd minute, Amaya scored his second goal of the night, putting Spalding ahead 3-0 and capping off an explosive start for the home side.

Despite Blackburn pulling two goals back before halftime, Spalding's defense tightened up in the second half and refused to let the Beavers complete the comeback. Goalkeeper Micah Mattes came up with crucial saves down the stretch to preserve the lead, anchoring a resilient defensive effort. The Golden Eagles created consistent chances throughout the match, outworking Blackburn in key moments and maintaining composure when it mattered most.
