LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding's men's soccer team battled to a 1–1 draw with Principia today at Legacy Fields.
SU moved to (4-5-4, 2-2-1 SLIAC), while the Panthers moved to (4-5-2, 2-1-1 SLIAC).
TURNING POINT
The match remained scoreless until the 36th minute, when
Eddie Mendez-Perez slotted home a pass from
Marlon Amaya to give Spalding the lead. Just nineteen seconds later, Principia answered with their own goal, tying the game at 1–1 before halftime. From that point forward, both sides battled hard, but neither was able to break the deadlock.Our keeper,
Micah Mattes, made three saves to keep us in the match. The contest was also chippy at times as
Jose Huerta picked up a yellow card in the second half as Principia had their share of cautions.
