Men's Soccer shows Pure Domination on Senior Day, 10-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University men's soccer team honored its senior class just before Saturday's SLIAC matchup against the MUW Owls at Legacy Fields. The Golden Eagles recognized Micah Mattis (Indianapolis, Ind., Lutheran), Jonatan De La Rosa Soriano (Houston, Texas, Henry Clay), Ryan Shoemaker (Louisville, Ky., Eastern), Dakota Wilson (Elizabethtown, Ky., John Hardin), Jamie Seago (London UK, Bishop Stopford), Kevin Mulume (D. R CONGO, Butler), and Grayson Pollock (Brandenburg, Ky., Meade County). The Golden Eagles flew past the Owls with a 10-1 victory in a Homecoming and Senior Day win. 

SU moved to 3-4-3 (1-1 SLIAC) while the Owls fell to 3-7 (0-2 SLIAC). 

TURNING POINT
The Golden Eagles wasted no time in getting on the board in the 8th minute with a goal by Eddie Mendez-Perez. Just seven minutes later, Marlon Amaya added another goal in the 14th minute. SU went on to score back to back goals in the 28th and 29th minutes by Nolan Thomas and Marlon Amaya. The MUW Owls fired a goal of their own in the 34th minute. Spalding finished the first half strong with a goal from Ryan Shoemaker in the 42nd minute. 

The Golden Eagles continued their dominance in the second half with a goal by Nolan Thomas in the 55th minute. Soon after that Marlon Amaya earned his third goal of the night in the 58th minute. Spalding was not done scoring there, as Eddie Mendez-Perez and Kevin Mulume recorded goals in the 61st and 67th minute. The final goal was scored in the 87th minute by Jamie Seago.

  • The Golden Eagles outshot the Owls (30-7)
  • Spalding had more shots on goal (20-4)
  • SU had four corner kicks to the Owls two.
