Box Score Elsah, Ill. – The Spalding University men's basketball team traveled to Elsah, Ill. to take on the Principia Panthers where the Golden Eagles break away with the win, 63-58. Spalding improves to 5-12 on the season and 3-2 in SLIAC play.
In the first half, the Golden Eagles were down by eight as the Panthers take advantage of missed shots and turnovers. Spalding eventually took the lead as
Brandin Obidike makes his second three of the half to put SU up by one. As both teams trade leads on the score board, the Golden Eagles start to pull away as
Jonathan Henson and Obidike sink back-to-back threes. Henson would put up a two-pointer in the final seconds to give SU a seven-point lead going into
the second half.
Coming out of the half, the Golden Eagles keep up the momentum as Henson continues shooting behind the arc to keep Spalding up by seven. The Golden Eagles would take their largest lead of the night as
Christian Stewart gets sent to the line as he would make both of his shots to give Spalding the 51-42 lead. Spalding would walk away with the win against the Panthers, 63-58, as they improve to 3-2 in SLIAC play.
Brandin Obidike led the Golden Eagles with 16 points as he shot 4-7 behind the arc with four rebounds,
Christian Stewart followed behind with 15 points and eight boards on the night, as
Jonathan Henson shot 2-4 from three with 10 points.
