Men's Basketball Locks the Four Seed in the SLIAC Tournament on Senior Day

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding University men's basketball team earned a hard-fought 70–60 win over Principia on Saturday night at Derek Smith Gymnasium, using a strong second-half performance to secure the conference victory.

GAME RECAP
The Golden Eagles held a slim 30–28 lead at halftime in what was a tightly contested first half, but they created separation after the break by outscoring the Panthers 40–32 over the final 20 minutes. With the win, Spalding continued to build momentum in conference play, relying on efficiency, rebounding, and timely scoring to close things out down the stretch.

Lekendrick Morris led the way offensively with an outstanding performance, pouring in 23 points on an efficient 10-of-11 shooting from the field. Morris consistently found space in the paint and finished strong at the rim, while also adding six rebounds and three assists in a well-rounded effort. Devonte McCampbell made a major impact as well, recording a double-double with 14 points and a team-high 13 rebounds, controlling the glass on both ends of the floor. His physical presence helped Spalding limit second-chance opportunities for Principia while creating extra possessions for the Golden Eagles. Dawsyn Miller chipped in eight points, and Spalding received valuable contributions off the bench to maintain energy and defensive intensity throughout the night.

Principia was led by Caden Smith, who scored 19 points, while KJ Waddell added 18 and Xavier McDowell contributed 12. Despite their efforts, the Panthers struggled to keep pace with Spalding's balanced attack and efficient shooting. The Golden Eagles shot over 46 percent from the field and did a strong job capitalizing on scoring opportunities inside, which ultimately proved to be the difference.
