LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding University's
Mani Bakari was named SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Bakari, a freshman from Louisville, Ky. by way of Nairobi, Kenya, sparked the Golden Eagles to a pair of wins last weekend. Mani notched two assists, including setting up the game-winner, in a 3-2 overtime victory against Georgetown (Ky.) in the season opener. Bakari followed with a goal and an assist in his team's 2-1 win over Gallaudet the next day. On the week, Bakari totaled five points, finishing with one goal and three assists.
Bakari and the Golden Eagles will be back on the pitch this weekend at the Bob Allen Classic hosted by Centre College in Danville, Ky. Spalding opens up Friday at 5:30 pm EST against Aurora, and cap off the weekend Saturday at 5:30 pm EST against Alma.
