The Spalding Women's Cross Country competed in the National Catholic Championships at Notre Dame University on Friday where they finished 19th out of 24 non-division teams.
Leading the way from the start for the Golden Eagles over the 3.1 mile course was
Casey Richardson. She hustled to the finish line with a time of 20:22.27, placing 71st among non-division one runners.
Following Richardson were
Janika King (21:20.64, 122nd) and
Kayla Payne (21:30.36, 127th).
The next big group for the women were
Kara Weaver (21:43.00, 138th),
Schyler Opel (21:55.19, 147th), and
Kelly Weber (23:09.67, 169th).
Rounding out the group was
Jenna Johnston (23:36.23, 171st) and
Paige Perkins (23:59.73, 174th).
The team will travel to Rock Island, Illinois to compete next Friday. This will be the last meet before the team will have a home meet in the Greater Louisville Classic at E.P Tom Sawyer Park on October 4th.Â
