Spalding got on the scoreboard in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Kyle Whitlock reached on a leadoff double to start the inning, advanced to third on a Matt West single, and crossed the plate on a Ferch double to left center.

After a scoreless second inning, Spalding would add five unanswered runs over the next three innings. The first two runs came in the third inning. Ferch hit his second double of the game to lead off the inning, stole third following a Drew Beckmann bunt, and came home on a Mosby sacrifice groundout to second base that also allowed Beckmann to advance to third. Senior Kyle Barbee singled to left field to score Beckmann. SU's next two runs came in the fourth inning when Jacob Woodruff scored on an error by the Centre catcher, and West doubled down the left field line to score Kyle Whitlock. SU stretched their lead to 6-0 in the fifth inning when Austin Drake flied out to right field bringing home Mosby form third base.

Centre broke the shutout in the sixth inning. Kyle Cook singled to right field, advanced to second on a Jarrod Messex error, moved to third on a Sam Spees bunt and scored on a Trey Litsey sacrifice fly to left field.

The Golden Eagle Nine answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Whitlock was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, Matt West reached on catcher's interference and both runners advanced on double steal. Ferch drove in Whitlock and West with a single up the middle to make the score 8-1. Beckmann followed Ferch with a sacrifice bunt that moved Ferch to third, and Ferch came home on a passed ball. Ryan Mosby scored the final run of the game. Mosby ripped a triple to right center and an errant throw by the cutoff man allowed Mosby to cross the dish to make the final scored 10-1.
