Eagles Fall at Wash U., 3-0

Box Score

The Golden Eagle Nine couldn't get their bats going, being held to five hits on the day in the 3-0 loss to Washington University in St. Louis, dropping them to 11-8 on the season.

Starter Ryan Mosby (2-4) had a solid outing, pitching eight innings and giving up just one earned on seven hits, while striking out five.

After five innings passed and no runs crossing the plate, the Bears of Washington U. got on the board scoring two runs in the sixth. The first came across after an RBI single by Andrew Dwoskin and the second run came after CJ Price stole home on the first-third double steal.

The third Bear run would come in the seventh, when a single through the left side by Zack Kessinger plated Max Golembo, extending their lead, 3-0.

SU would knock on the door in the ninth though. Back-to-back singles by Derek Ferch and Sam White left runners on first and second with one out. Later in the inning with two outs, a passed ball would advance both runners to second and third, but a strike out by Vire would end the game and hand SU the 3-0 loss.

SU will take on Principia College in a doubleheader Friday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. EST in Elsah, Ill.
