Box Score The Golden Eagles competed for back-to-back SLAIC Men's Basketball Championships, but came up short. On Saturday afternoon, in Derek Smith Gymnasium, the No. 1 seed Spalding was defeated 55-51 by the No. 2 seeded Webster University.

Domonique Sangester led the Golden Eagles with 12 points and 5 rebounds in his last game for Spalding and teammate
Brandon Gabriel added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the Spalding loss. Both Sangester and Gabriel were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Gorloks of Webster were led by Kevin Miller who finished the game recording a double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
With six minutes off the clock, the Golden Eagles led Webster 16-7; this nine point lead would be the largest for either team. The Gorloks would soon find themselves back in the game, as they chipped away Spalding's lead and were able to tie the game at 18-18 with 6:35 to play in the half. Spalding and Webster matched buckets for buckets as the first half came to an end; with 18 seconds remaining in the half the game was tied 27-27, but; two last second free-throws gave the Gorloks a 29-27 halftime advantage.
The game would remain close in the second half as the Golden Eagles and the Gorloks paced each other; neither team led by more than four in the second half. The Gorloks held on to a two point lead for most of the half until the 9:54 mark when the Golden Eagles were able to take a 44-43 lead off a three-point shot by Sangester. In the last nine minutes the game would go back and forth with the two teams trading buckets and the lead.
In the last minute of the game Spalding was down three and had multiple chances to tie the game but missed three 3-point shots. A trip to the free throw line for Webster's Miller and another missed 3-point shot by Spalding sealed the victory for the Gorloks. Spalding put up a good effort in the last minutes of the game but it was not enough; Webster defeated the Golden Eagles 55-51 to win the 2013-14 Men's SLIAC Championship.
