Box Score

The Golden Eagles' 65-48 victory over the visiting Beavers of Blackburn College, on Monday night, increases their record to 13-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). Spalding has won 9 out of their last 10 SLIAC games.

Sophomore guard Brand Goeing and freshman guard Jovante Lavender led Spalding with 15 points apiece, Lavender also recorded 3 steals.

Jamie Moore and Chris Davis led the Beavers with 13 points apiece.

Spalding's offense started the game strong going on a 14-3 run to start the half. Spalding gained the lead and never looked back as the Beavers' defense was not able to contain them. The Golden Eagles shot 68% in the first half and 56.8% for the game.

In the first half of play, Spalding was able to hold Blackburn to shooting 25% from the field and forced eight Beaver turnovers. Spalding's strong offensive and defensive efforts would continue through the first half and put Spalding up 40-19 at the half.

In the second half of action, the two SLIAC opponents were much more evenly matched. Blackburn outscored Spalding 23-16 through the first 13 minutes of the second half to cut the Golden Eagles' once 21-point lead to 56-42.

Turnovers seemed to be the biggest issue for Spalding as they recorded 11 in the second half and 21 for the game. Despite the magnitude of turnovers, Spalding out-rebounded Blackburn 37-18 and held the Beavers to shooting 28.3% from the field. Spalding ended the game on a 9-3 run to defeat the Beavers of Blackburn 68-45.

Spalding improves to 13-1 in conference play, 15-6 overall.
