Goeing Hits Seven Three-Pointers to lead SU past principia, 92-55

Sophomore Brandon Goeing connected on seven three pointers to lead the Spalding University (12-6; 10-1 SLIAC) men's basketball team to a 92-55 victory over Principia College (4-14; 3-9 SLIAC) Saturday afternoon.

Spalding and Principia kept it close for the first ten minutes, Kenny Sydness knocked down a jumper to make the score 14-15 at the 10:43 mark, but the Golden Eagles went on a 15-2 run to take a 30-16 lead with 5:05 left in the half.

From there SU was cruising, Goeing knocked down a trio of three-pointers and Renaldo Moore scored right before the half to give a Spalding a 48-24 halftime lead.

The Panthers outscored SU 12-4 to open the second half to get within 16 at 36-52, but the Golden Eagles responded with a 10-1 run to make the score 62-37 with 11:45 to play, and rolled to the 92-55 with.

Spalding shot 54.7 percent, while holding Principia to 42.2 percent shooting, and held a 21-9 advantage on the offensive boards. On the defensive side, SU tallied 12 steals helping force 20 Panther turnovers.

Goeing paced the Golden Eagles with 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Brandon Gabriel, Domonique Sangester and Renaldo Moore also had solid games. Gabriel scored 14 points, while dishing out four assists and grabbing three rebounds. Sangester finished with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists. Big man Renaldo Moore recorded eight points, six rebounds and a season-high three steals.

Larry Patterson led the Panthers with 13 points.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action against Iowa Wesleyan Thursday, February 6. Tipoff is 9:00 p.m., ET.
