Victoria Heitzman's 18 kills help lead SU back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Principia College in five sets, 3-2.
The Golden Eagles dropped the first two sets 24-26 and 22-25, but bounced back to dominate the next two sets 25-15 and 25-11 to send the match to a fifth set, and took the fifth 15-9 to earn the victory.
Heitzman led the offensive attack with 18 kills,
Jessica Diehl added 17 and
Katelyn Cosgrove passed out a match-high 49 assists.
Spalding had four players register more than 20 digs. Cosgrove led the group with 37,
Casey Wilkerson finished with 24,
Samantha Martin 23 and
Elisa Burkman 21.
Erin Downs guarded the net with 4.5 blocks and Diehl added 3.5.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action tomorrow at Blackburn College. Spalding will open the day with a non-conference match against Central Christian College at 4:00 p.m. EST and conclude the day against the host Beavers at 8:00 p.m. EST.
