Jessica Diehl combined for 10 kills, eight service aces and five solo blocks to help the Spalding University volleyball team sweep both games of their Friday night doubleheader at Blackburn College.
With the wins the Golden Eagles push win their streak to four matches. SU is currently 9-14 overall and sit in fourth place in the SLIAC standings with a 6-4 conference record.
The Golden Eagles defeated Central Christian (Mo.) 25-21, 25-13 and 25-13 in their first match of the day.
April Fisher and
Elisa Burkman led the Spalding offensive attack finishing the match with seven kills each, and
Katelyn Cosgrove racked up 31 assists.
Kaylee McCartney and
Casey Wilkerson led the defense with seven digs each, and
Erin Downs scored two solo blocks.
Spalding followed their win against CC with a win over the host Beavers 25-13, 25-13 and 25-12.
Burkman and
Victoria Heitzman paced the offense with eight kills each, and Cosgrove set 32 of the Golden Eagles 36 kills.
Samantha Martin and Wilkerson led SU in digs with six apiece and Diehl tallied four solo blocks.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action tomorrow concluding their three day road trip with a match against SLIAC foe MacMurray College at 12:00 p.m. EST.
