LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Spalding's men's and women's track and field teams were back in action on Friday at the Bellarmine Open, competing against a strong field at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. The Golden Eagles were represented across sprints, middle distance, distance, and field events, using the meet as an important early-season benchmark against regional competition.
On the men's side,
Tobias Rice led Spalding in the distance events, turning in a steady performance in the 3000 meters as he worked through a deep field.
Caleb Stinson followed with a strong effort in the 1500 meters, maintaining consistent splits and finishing with a solid closing lap. In the sprint events,
Chad Dahl highlighted the day for the Golden Eagles, competing in both the 200 meters and 400 meters, where he posted competitive times against a large group of Division I and II athletes.
Devon Howard also represented Spalding in the 200 meters, gaining valuable race experience.
The women's team delivered multiple strong performances on the track as well.
Holly Higgs paced Spalding in the 400 meters, followed closely by
Roslyn Stull, as both athletes continued to build consistency early in the season.Â
In the field events,
Takeiyah Conn led the Golden Eagles in the women's shot put, recording a strong series of throws against quality competition.
Takara Williams represented Spalding in the pole vault, successfully clearing 2.33 meters and continuing to build confidence as the season progresses.
Overall, the Bellarmine Open provided a productive day of competition for Spalding, with athletes gaining valuable experience and posting encouraging performances across events. The Golden Eagles will look to build on Friday's results as they continue their season in the weeks ahead.
