Ryan Glynn named Assistant Men's Soccer Coach

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After serving the past two years as graduate assistant, Ryan Glynn '16 has been named as the full-time assistant men's soccer coach.  A former student-athlete who led the Golden Eagles to their first-ever SLIAC Championship in 2016, Glynn will enter his third year on staff this fall.

"First, I want to thank Coach Boyer for the opportunity to remain on staff here at Spalding University," Glynn said. "I am absolutely thrilled to continue my time as a Golden Eagle. As an alum, it is an honor and privilege to continue to call Spalding home."

Over the past two years, Glynn has worked alongside head coach Adam Boyer and guided the team to two 2nd place finishes in the SLIAC regular season, including finishing as 2021 SLIAC Tournament finalists. With Ryan on the sidelines, Spalding has posted a 19-11-4 overall record and 15-6-3 conference record. Glynn has coached 12 All-SLIAC selections and one All-Region honoree, while nearly 20 student-athletes have been named SLIAC All-Academic.

"We couldn't be more excited to have Ryan named as the program's first full-time assistant coach," Boyer remarked. "He's a fantastic coach on the sidelines and a remarkable role model for the student-athletes on our roster. As an alum, he has great perspective on the program and we anticipate a successful season ahead with Coach Glynn in this role," he finished.

As a senior in 2016, Glynn helped lead the program to their first conference championship, which included a perfect 9-0-0 SLIAC regular season record as he served as the team's starting goalkeeper. A three-time All-Academic team selection, Glynn, a Louisville native and DeSales High School graduate, started his coaching career locally at Holy Cross High School and Notre Dame Academy.

The Louisville native and DeSales graduate just finished his Masters of Science in Business Communication with a concentration in Sport Management at Spalding.

Men's soccer is set to make their final coaching staff announcements in the coming days as the team approaches opening day of the fall season on August 17th.
