LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Spalding University baseball team goes 0-3 on the weekend at LaGrange College. They extend their record to 0-3 so far on the season.
Game 1: LaGrange 15 Spalding 1
Spalding would pick up their first loss 15-1 against LaGrange College on Saturday.
Peyton Hood would pick up his first loss of the season as
Marcus Collins went 2-for-2.
Eric Bronner would score Collins for the only run for Spalding in the seventh.
Game 2: LaGrange 12 Spalding 2
LaGrange would win the second game in the doubleheader on Saturday, 12-2.
Garrett Mathews would pick up his first loss of the season as
Matthew McDowell went 1-for-2 on the day with a walk. Spalding would take advantage of a Panther wild pitch to score their first run in the fourth inning. Grant Rodriquez would score the final run for the Golden Eagles on a sac-fly to score McDowell in the same inning.
Game 3: LaGrange 4 Spalding 1
Spalding would make the third and final game closer than the first two. Although
Clay Burton picks up the loss, the Spalding pitching staff kept the Panthers to just four runs in two innings. Nickolas Salas puts the one and only run on the board for the Golden Eagles as he scored
Michael Newsome on a single to right field. Salas and
Hunter Strong each went 1-for-3.
Up next, the Golden Eagles will take on Wheaton at home on Friday, February 25
th and Saturday, February 26
th with the first game beginning at 5 pm ET on Friday.
