Men’s soccer to host six-seed Blackburn for SLIAC quarterfinal match

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding men's soccer team will face the six seed Blackburn in the SLIAC tournament quarterfinal Tuesday evening. The Golden Eagles defeated the Beavers, 5-2, in their regular season meeting on March 20. SU secured a three seed in the tournament following their 2-1 win against Westminster Saturday afternoon.

Head coach Adam Boyer has led his team to a 6-2-2 record overall and a 6-1-2 in SLIAC play. The Golden Eagles are on a hot streak as they have won their last three matches. Spalding ranks 3rd in the SLIAC with 29 total goals and lead the league with a .228 shot percentage and a .543 shot on goal percentage. Ahmadou Gueye leads the team with 18 points on 6 goals with two game winners and 6 assists. Alioune Cisse and Baba Pam each have netted 5 goals this season. Trevor Massa has made 20 saves in under 500 minutes of action and holds a 1.34 goals-against average.

Blackburn had a two-game winning streak stopped in their regular season finale, a 3-1 loss to Greenville. The Beavers totaled 23 goals this spring with Hayden Reese leading the way with 4 goals.
