Golden Eagles Shutout at IUS, 4-0

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Spalding University softball team fell to Indiana University Southeast, 4-0, in a midweek matchup. The win improves the Grenadiers to 17-18 overall. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 12-14 on the season. Emily Weiss picked up the win, while Olivia Leet (4-8) was hit with the loss.
 
LeeAnna Hundley had the lone base hit for the Eagles, going 1-for-2 on the day. Grace Terrell and Olivia Leet were each 0-for-2 with a walk.
 
Both teams were being held scoreless through the first two and a half innings before IUS broke the tie with three runs on five hits in the bottom of the third. They added to their lead with a run in the fourth on a Kaylin Klosterman single. The Golden Eagles could not get anything going against the Grenadiers combination of pitchers, as they were held to just one hit through seven scoreless innings.
 
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Friday, April 21st, as they head to Transylvania, Kentucky to take on the Pioneers of Transylvania University in doubleheader action. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:30 pm EST.
