Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Spalding University softball team went 0-2 Tuesday at the Fastpitch Dream Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Golden Eagles lost their first game to Kentucky Christian University, 12-4, and concluded the day with a 7-1 loss to Mansfield.
Against Mansfield, the Golden Eagles fell behind early giving up three runs in the first inning and Mansfield went on to add a run in the third, two runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth to build a 7-0 lead heading into the seventh inning. Kaylin Rucker. Sam Klein led SU at the plate going 1-for-2 and Eatmon had a RBI. Olivia Leet suffered the loss, allowing six runs, four earned, on four hits, while striking out eight batters.
SU fell to Kentucky Christian in the early game, 12-4. KCU got on the board first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. The Golden Eagles responded with a trio of runs to take a 3-2 lead. Sam Klein drove in Rucker for SU's first run and
Grace Terrell put SU in from with a double plating Klein and
Brooke Lamon. However, KCU would go on to outscore SU 9-1 over the remainder of the game to earn the win.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Wednesday when they play a doubleheader against Mansfield at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm.
