MYRTLE BEACH, S.C – The Spalding University softball team suffered a tough loss to Albright College, 3-2. Spalding sees their overall record drop to 3-5, while the Lions improve to 9-1. Sammi O'Connor (5-0) continued her hot start, picking up the victory. Robyn Schoen (2-3) was tagged for the loss.
 
Becca Mouser had an impressive day, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base. Shelby Kilgore was an on-base machine, going 1-for-1 with two walks and a stolen base. Alyssa McAfee saw the ball well, going 2-for-4.
 
Spalding struck first in the top of the third inning. Kilgore singled and stole second, moving into scoring position. A Mouser single to center field would bring Kilgore home, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. In the top of the fifth with the bases loaded, Brooke Lamon would hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring the runner from third to extend the lead to 2-0. Albright College would make their come back in the bottom half, scoring three runs to take a 3-2 lead. Armida Roman highlighted the inning with a two RBI double to right center. In the top of seventh, Spalding would threaten when Mouser hit a triple with two outs. The Lions defense would hold however, ending the Golden Eagles rally attempt.
 
Spalding will be back in action this Saturday, March 19^th when they travel to Wilmington, Ohio to take on Wilmington College in a double-header. The first game is scheduled for a 1 pm EST start time, followed by the second game.
