Box Score LOUISVILLE – The Spalding University women's soccer team lost to Illinois College 1-0 in double overtime Friday afternoon at Champions Trace.
Spalding (1-4) dominated possession in the first half outshooting the Lady Blues 7-3 and holding a 4-3 corner kick advantage. SU's best look came in the 16
th minute, but
Dee Dee Sliter's shot bounced off the crossbar.
Opposite of the first half, Illinois College (6-1) controlled possession in the second half resulting in a 6-1 shot advantage over Spalding, but SU keeper
Kelsey Kaiser's three saves kept IC from finding the back of the net.
Spalding had a great look in the 88
th minute when freshman
Baylee Tabler beat her defender, but her shot went right into the keeper's hands and the game remained scoreless at the end of regulation.
Neither team could establish much offense in the first extra period as they managed to get one shot apiece.
Illinois College controlled the second overtime, taking three shots and earning three corners before Ashley Riley slotted the game-winner with 1:48 to play.
Dee Dee Sliter led Spalding with four shots, one coming on-goal, and
Kelsie Parido had two shots both on-goal.
Despite an eight save performance, goalkeeper
Kelsey Kaiser took the loss dropping her record to 1-3 on the season.
The Lady Eagles will be back in action Sunday, September 21 when they host Berea College. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. EST at Champions Trace.
