Eagles give up two late goals to fall at Anderson, 2-0

ANDERSON – The Spalding University women's soccer team gave up two late to fall at Anderson University, 4-0.

The Golden Eagles (1-3) went on the attack early, freshman Sarah Kashman drilled a shot off the post in the eighth minute, Dee Dee Sliter fired one wide a minute and a half later, and Baylee Tabler had a shot stopped by Anderson (4-2) keeper Rebecca Roell in the 13th minute.  Despite three early shots, SU was outshot 5-3 in the half and went to halftime tied 0-0.   

Similar to the first half, Spalding jumped on the attack. Katie Ballard got a shot off that was saved by Roell 29 seconds into the second period. SU got two more attempts on-goal in the 82nd minute, but Amanda Weber and Dee Dee Sliter's attempts ended up in the hands of Roell to keep the game knotted 0-0. Anderson's Beverly Brittingham slotted the game winner in the 86th minute and Spalding transfer Tori Smith closed the door with a goal in the 88th minute to make the final score 2-0.

Dee Dee Sliter and Katie Ballard led the Spalding attack, each recording two shots and one shot on-goal, and Amanda Weber and Baylee Tabler each had one shot on-goal.

Kelsey Kaiser (1-3) took the loss allowing two goals while recording six saves.  

Up next, the Golden Eagles will host Illinois College Friday, September 19. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m., EST at Champions Trace.
