Eagles Advance to Second Day at SLIAC Tournament

The Spalding University softball team advanced to the second day of the SLIAC Tournament with a 4-0 upset win over Greenville College.

Alyssa McAfee led SU at the plated going 3-for-4, while Becca Mouser had a team-leading two RBIs on 1-for-3 hitting.

Kelci Flener (15-8) threw the Lady Eagles to the win in a complete game effort. Flener allowed no runs on five hits, while striking out six batters and walking one.

After two scoreless innings, Spalding scored two runs in the top of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Alyssa McAfee reached on a double and scored on a Peyton French RBI single. French then advanced to second on single by her sister Paige French, and crossed the plate on a Kelsey McDowell double.

SU added two more runs in the sixth inning to make the final score 4-0. Becca Mouser drilled a two run homer that scored McKenna Brinley for Spalding's final two runs of the game.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action Friday, May 2 when they face Fontbonne University at 6:00 pm EST. The game will be broadcast live at  http://www.prepcasts.com/collegecasts/.
