Box Score 2 In its last home showing of the season, the Spalding University softball team swept Wilmington College 5-0, 11-2 at Jeffersontown High School.

Callie Howard and
Hannah Stucker scored after an error by shortstop Catlin Shilling allowed
Paige French to reach. On the next play, Becca mouser drove in Paige and
Peyton French to give Spalding a 4-0 lead. The Golden Eagles recorded one more run in the game while holding Wilmington scoreless through 7 innings.
In the win, Stucker went 2-for-2 and ended the game with one run and one RBI. Kelcie Flener (14-8) earned the win for Spalding as she struck out six and scattered two hits in the shutout.
Spalding 11- Wilmington 2Going scoreless in the first game, Wilmington's Kerrie Trautman scored the team's first run of the day and Megan Warren drove in teammate Allie Noggle on the next play, giving Wilmington a 2-0 second inning lead.
After being walked, SU's
Kelsey McDowell advanced around the bases and scored off a Wilmington wild pitch. Later in the inning, Howard drove in
Katy Flanagan to tie the game at 2-2. The Golden Eagles took the lead on the next play as
Alyssa McAfee singled up the middle, scoring teammate
Brooke Conder. Before the inning was done, McAfee and Howard scored as Stucker doubled to left field. Scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the second, the Golden Eagles headed into the third with a 5-2 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Mouser singled up the middle, scoring McDowell and
Paige French to push SU's lead to 7-2. Mouser added to the Golden Eagle lead as she scored off a passed ball later in the third.
The Golden Eagles defeated Wilmington 11-2 as the team scored three additional runs through the fourth and fifth innings and held its opponent scoreless through the final three innings.
The softball team will end its regular season play on Tuesday, April 29, as they take on Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Indiana. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. EST.
