Box Score 2 The Spalding University softball team went 0-for-2 on the final day of the Emory Eagle Softball Bash. Spalding (1-5) fell to No. 12 Emory 8-0 in the morning game, and lost to Agnes Scott 6-3 in the afternoon contest.
The Lady Eagles went hitless over the first two innings. Emory (19-0) got on the scoreboard first with a leadoff homerun by Hannah Sendel in the third inning. EU added a second run on a Amy Wray sacrifice fly that brought home Tara Fallahee to put SU in a 2-0 hole.
Alyssa McAfee singled up the middle, advanced to third on
Peyton French single, but a
Becca Mouser strikeout to end the inning stranded McAfee at third.
Emory would go on to add two runs in the third inning and four runs in the fourth inning as SU fell 8-0.
McAfee, Pe. French,
Kelsey McDowell and Pa. French led SU hitters with one hit apiece.
Kelci Flener (0-3) took her second loss in as many days, allowing eight runs on 11 hits, with one strikeout and one ball.
SU fell behind 6-0 and their comeback fell short as they lost 3-6 in their final game of the Eagle Softball Bash.
Spalding gave up five runs in the second inning and one run in the sixth inning, falling behind 6-0 heading into the seventh. The Golden Eagles scored three runs in the seventh, but their rally fell short as the Lady Eagles lost to Agnes Scott (7-6) 6-3.
Senior
Hannah Stucker led SU at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and a home run.
Courtney Miller (1-2) got the loss, giving up five runs on eight hits, while striking out one batter and walking two.
Up next, the Lady Eagles will host a doubleheader against Blackburn College Saturday, March 15. First pitch is 1:00 p.m., EST at Jeffersontown High School.
