Box Score 2 EUREKA – The Spalding University volleyball team split their tri-match Saturday at Eureka College. The Golden Eagles swept the host Red Devils 25-18, 25-12 and 25-11 in the early game, but fell to Westminster 3-1 in the second game.
Spalding took the first set 25-18 then rolled to a 25-12 victory in the second set and took the match winning the third set 25-11.
Elisa Burkman led the Spalding offense with 10 kills and
Katelyn Cosgrove passed out 20 assists.
Casey Wilkerson had a team-high eight digs and
Erin Downs tallied two solo blocks and three block assists to lead the defense.
The Golden Eagles lost the first two sets to Westminster 25-14, 25-20, but bounced back to win the third set 25-17. However Spalding lost the fourth set 25-18 to fall 3-1.
Up next, the Golden Eagles will travel to Franklin College Tuesday, October 7 to take on the Grizzlies. Start time is slated for 7:00 p.m. EST.
