Box Score ELSAH – The Spalding University women's soccer team improved to 2-0 in SLIAC play with a 9-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan College Friday night.
Dee Dee Sliter scored the first goal of the game finding the back of the net in the 16
th minute to give Spalding a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later
Katie Ballard slotted her first goal of the season to make the score 2-0, then added another goal in the 25
th minute to push the lead to 3-0.
Allye Kuerzi took a deflection from
Baylee Tabler and fired it past the IWC goal keeper for the final goal of the half to give SU a 4-0 lead at the midway point.
Spalding dominated possession in the first half, taking 25 shots with 13 shots on goal and held a 3-0 corner kick advantage.
Hannah Freytag was the first Eagle to strike in the second half. Freytag took a through ball from
Dee Dee Sliter and beat the keeper to give the Golden Eagles a 5-0 lead in the 49
th minute. Four minutes later Freytag returned the favor, finding Sliter with a cross and Dee Dee slipped a shot past the keeper for her second goal of the game. Senior Captain
Amanda Weber scored Spalding's next two goals, finding the back of the net in the 69
th and 75
th minute to make the score 8-0.
Baylee Tabler scored the final goal of the game, slotting a goal in the 78
th minute to make the final score 9-0.
Spalding outshot IWC 47-0 and 32-0 on goal, while holding an 8-0 corner kick advantage.

Amanda Weber led the Golden Eagle attack, scoring two goals apiece and combing for 14 shots.
Kelsey Kaiser (4-5) earned her fourth win of the season.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Monday, October 6 when they host Midway College. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m. EST at Champions Trace.
