Women's Lacrosse Opens HCLC Play with Dominant 19–5 Victory Over Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Spalding University women's lacrosse team opened conference play with a dominant performance on Saturday, April 11, 2026, securing a decisive 19–5 victory over Franklin College. The Golden Eagles showcased a high-powered offense and a stifling defense to move to 5-7 overall and 1-0 in the HCLC.

Offensive Explosion
Spalding set the tone immediately, racing out to an 8–0 lead in the first quarter and never looking back. The attack was led by a career-high performance from Taylor Young, who found the back of the net a staggering 8 times. Young was nearly unstoppable, putting 9 of her 11 shots on goal and leading the team with 6 draw controls and 3 caused turnovers.

She was well-supported by Mahalia Dominguez and Grace Mitchell, who each tallied 4 goals. Dominguez was a key playmaker throughout the afternoon, adding 3 assists to finish with 7 total points. Mitchell was equally efficient, recording 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists) and snagging 3 ground balls.

The Golden Eagles' defensive pressure was a collective effort, with Erin Eggar and Grace Mitchell helping to disrupt Franklin's possessions. Spalding also controlled the center circle, winning the draw control battle 17–8, which allowed them to maintain a consistent offensive rhythm.
