LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's lacrosse team earned a decisive 14-6 victory over Hanover College at Legacy Fields on Saturday morning. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 6-7 overall and remain undefeated in HCLC play at 2-0. Hanover falls to 2-8 (0-2 HCLC) on the season.
Spalding relied on a massive third-quarter offensive surge and a stellar goalkeeping performance by
Whitney White to secure the victory.

Hanover was the first to strike, getting on the board just two and a half minutes into the game with an unassisted goal by Kaitlyn Madden. Spalding quickly found its rhythm, responding with three unanswered goals from
Taylor Young,
Grace Mitchell, and
Izabel Cruz to take a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter,
Nicole Hollowell extended Spalding's lead to 4-1. However, Hanover battled back with a resilient 3-0 run. Julia Jarrells scored twice and assisted Quinn Cherry on another, tying the game at 4-4 with just over three minutes left in the half. Hollowell answered the bell for Spalding, finding the back of the net with 52 seconds remaining in the half to give the Golden Eagles a narrow 5-4 lead heading into the break.
The third quarter proved to be the turning point, as Spalding's offense completely took over. The Golden Eagles erupted for a 6-1 run in the period.
Izabel Cruz,
Taylor Young,
Nicole Hollowell, and
Grace Mitchell all scored in rapid succession, expanding the lead to a comfortable 11-5 margin by the end of the frame.
Spalding cruised through the fourth quarter, tacking on three more goals—including one from
Mahalia Dominguez and a man-up goal from
Madison Cornett—to seal the 14-6 final.

- For Hanover, Julia Jarrells led the offense with 2 goals and 1 assist. Despite the loss, Hanover dominated the draw circle, winning 17 draw controls compared to Spalding's 2, thanks in large part to Brannon Chubb (9 draw controls) and Kaitlyn Madden (5 draw controls).
