SHEPERDSVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding men's golf team turned in a strong showing this past weekend at the LTU Heritage Hill Collegiate, finishing 4th out of 9 teams in a competitive three-round event.
The Golden Eagles were consistent from start to finish, putting together three solid team rounds to secure a top-four finish. Spalding opened the tournament with a strong first round, highlighted by
Brady Westwood, who fired an even-par 72, and
Augustus Vega, who followed closely with a 73 (+1).
Ashton Bass added a 79 (+7), while
Taylor Coleman and
Ben Seidel each carded 83 (+11) to round out the scoring.
In round two, Spalding continued to stay steady across the lineup. Westwood once again led the way with a 73 (+1), while Bass posted a 77 (+5) and Seidel added another 77 (+5). Vega contributed a 78 (+6), and Coleman finished the round with an 82 (+10), keeping the Golden Eagles firmly in the mix heading into the final day.
Spalding closed the tournament with another consistent effort in round three. Vega paced the team with a 74 (+2), including an impressive 35 (-1) on the back nine. Bass followed with a 75 (+3), while Westwood carded a 77 (+5). Seidel added a 78 (+6), and Coleman rounded out the scoring with an 85 (+13).
Additional individuals competing for Spalding included J.J. Morgan, who posted rounds of 84, 83, and 81, and
Charles Horn, who finished with rounds of 96, 95, and 89.
Overall, the Golden Eagles showcased depth and consistency throughout the weekend, with multiple players contributing key rounds. The fourth-place finish highlights the team's continued progress this spring as they build momentum heading into upcoming competitions.
