Softball Sweeps Centre in Danville

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding softball team earned a doubleheader sweep over Centre on Sunday, powering past the Colonels with a pair of strong offensive performances. The Golden Eagles combined for 24 runs and 28 hits across the two games to improve their record on the season.

Game One – Spalding 13, Centre 3
Spalding jumped out to a dominant start in the opener, erupting for seven runs in the first inning and never looking back in a 13–3 win. RBI singles from Morgan Gambrell, Braeanna Billups, Bianca Ward, and Emma Eaton helped fuel the early rally as the Golden Eagles built a commanding lead. Spalding continued to add insurance runs throughout the game, including a run in the third and three more in the fifth. The Golden Eagles finished with 15 hits, with Ward leading the way with three hits and three RBIs. Gambrell, Billups, Nolot, Franklin-Brooks, and Riley Wilkins each added multiple hits in the offensive outburst. In the circle, Wilkins earned the win after pitching all five innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out two.

Game Two – Spalding 11, Centre 5
The Golden Eagles carried their offensive momentum into game two, scoring four runs in the first inning to take an early advantage. Spalding added runs in five different innings, finishing with 13 hits in an 11–5 victory. Braeanna Billups had another big game at the plate, collecting two hits and three RBIs, while Emma Eaton added two hits and two RBIs. Olivia O'Neil reached base five times with two hits and three walks, scoring twice. Centre made a push with three runs in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 9–5, but Spalding responded with insurance runs in the sixth and seventh to secure the win. Kaylee Fitzner earned the victory in the circle for the Golden Eagles.
