LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Spalding University's women's basketball team delivered a commanding performance in their 78–56 win over Blackburn on January 14, 2026 at Derek Smith Gymnasium.

The Golden Eagles pulled away decisively in the fourth with a 35-point frame that sealed the victory.
Spalding's balanced scoring was showcased by
Ma'Kaylia Lute, who led the team with 17 points, knocking down four of eight three-point attempts while also contributing on the glass.
Nicole Hollowell added 16 points, including three made triples, and
Zaneiya Batiste was a force inside with 15 points and nine rebounds, anchoring Spalding's frontcourt.
Brooke McNeal chipped in 9 points and 4 rebounds, and
Deonte'nae Neal provided a spark off the bench with 11 points, helping sustain the Eagles' offensive momentum throughout the game. Spalding shot efficiently, going 28-for-63 from the field and 9-for-24 from three, while converting 13 of 19 free throws, and controlled the boards with a team rebound advantage. Spalding's defensive effort was notable as well, forcing turnovers and limiting Blackburn's opportunities, helping maintain control from start to finish. With this win, Spalding improved its overall and conference records, showing growth and consistency as the SLIAC season progresses.
