ANDERSON, Ind. - The Spalding University women's soccer team picked up a strong 2-0 win on Saturday, powered by key performances from several Golden Eagles.
TURNING POINT
The breakthrough came in the 13th minute when
Maddie Campbell found the back of the net, finishing off a setup from
Emma Livingston. That early strike gave Spalding confidence and allowed them to dictate the pace of play. Livingston continued to shine in the second half, adding a goal of her own in the 60th minute. This time, she was on the receiving end of a pass from
Madison Dziedzic, who provided the assist to double the lead and put the match out of reach.
On the defensive side, the Golden Eagles stood firm, led by goalkeeper
Sophie Young-Neawedde, who recorded five saves to preserve the clean sheet. Spalding's back line held strong in key moments, clearing chances and limiting quality looks for Anderson. Offensively, the Golden Eagles kept up steady pressure, firing 20 shots overall, with 10 of those on target. Their ability to sustain attacks and capitalize on opportunities was a major difference in the match.
This victory highlighted the depth and balance of Spalding's roster, with contributions coming from multiple players across the field. Campbell's early finish set the tone, Livingston's all-around playmaking proved decisive, and Dziedzic's assist showed the importance of teamwork in the attacking third. Combined with Young-Neawedde's composure in goal, the Golden Eagles earned a well-rounded win that moves them to 4-3-1 on the season and provides momentum heading deeper into their schedule.
