LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding baseball team had not one, but two All-Americans this season.
In both the ABCA/Rawlings and D3Baseball polls,
Hunter Strong and
Ethan Tuttle earned First Team All-America honors.Â
Strong started all 42 games for SU, accumulating a team-leading 14 home runs along the way. This placed him t-24th nationally. His 19 doubles tied him for 14th at the national level. Strong also finished 10th in batting average with an impressive .452. His .845 slugging percentage ranked him 7th nationally while his on-base percentage of .556 was good for 8th. This combination ranked Strong 4th nationally in OPS (1.404).
Tuttle started all 42 games for the Golden Eagles, leading the team with a mind-boggling .494 batting average. During the season, the senior led all of collegiate baseball (NCAA-NAIA) in batting average for over a month. As the dust settled, he finished 4th nationally in batting average by a margin of .002. Tuttle's on-base percentage of .564 ranked him 5th in the nation. His 88 hits led all Division III hitters at the time of writing this article.Â
