Softball grabs a split against Greenville

GREENVILLE, Ill. – Spalding softball traveled to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Greenville on Friday. SU picked up a split.

The Golden Eagles moved to 11-15 (7-1 SLIAC), while the Panthers fell to 25-3 (10-2 SLIAC).

GAME ONE - SPALDING 8, GREENVILLE 3
After falling behind 1–0 early, the Golden Eagles tied the game in the fourth and briefly trailed again in the fifth before mounting a game-changing comeback. A clutch sixth inning gave them a 2–2 tie, and the momentum swung fully in Spalding's favor with a massive six-run rally in the top of the seventh. The offense came alive thanks to timely hits, aggressive base running, and consistent pressure on Greenville's defense. In the circle, Sydney Schott controlled the game from the start and earned the win with a complete-game effort, limiting Greenville to just three runs and working out of several key jams. Spalding's defense also stepped up in big moments, keeping Greenville from gaining traction after their early lead.

GAME TWO - SPALDING 1, GREENVILLE 6
After a big win earlier in the day, the Golden Eagles struggled to generate offense in the rematch, scoring just once in the second inning. Greenville capitalized with three runs in the first and added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth. Spalding managed only five hits and couldn't overcome the early deficit.

NEXT FOR SPALDING
The Golden Eagles will host SLIAC opponent Webster on Friday. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
