LOUISVILLE, Ky. – On Tuesday, Spalding baseball hosted 15th-ranked Centre College. Spalding won 6-5, extending its lead in the all-time series to 15-6.
Spalding improved to 16-7 on the season, while the Colonels fell to 19-5.
TURNING POINT - SPALDING 6, CENTRE 5
The Golden Eagles came out strong, capitalizing on early scoring opportunities with aggressive base running and timely hitting. Their pitching staff kept Centre's batters in check through the early innings, limiting offensive threats while Spalding built a lead. However, Centre responded in the middle frames, stringing together key hits and taking advantage of defensive miscues to close the gap. The game remained tight as both teams battled for momentum, with Centre threatening to even the score multiple times.
Spalding relied on its bullpen to protect the narrow lead as the game entered the final innings. The Colonels mounted a late rally, pushing across runs and putting the tying run in scoring position. However, the Golden Eagles' defense stepped up under pressure, executing key outs to hold off the comeback attempt. A strong performance on the mound in the final frame sealed the victory for Spalding.

- Jake Mueller had a stellar performance on the mound. He pitched 6.1 innings, allowed only three runs, and tallied eight strikeouts.
- Ty Lopez went 2-4 from the plate and tallied an RBI.
- Ethan Murphy grabbed a save for SU.
