Baseball swept the Beavers; Offense tallies 33 runs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – On Wednesday, Spalding baseball hosted SLIAC opponent Blackburn College. Spalding won both games by significant margins.

Spalding improved to 13-7 on the season, while the Beavers fell to 2-13.

GAME ONE - SPALDING 11, BLACKBURN 0
The Golden Eagles broke the game open in the fourth inning when Whitt Callahan's two-run double plated Ethan Tuttle and Ty Lopez. Spalding's offense continued to surge, tallying 11 runs on a mix of timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. Meanwhile, the pitching staff delivered a shutout performance, allowing minimal baserunners and keeping Blackburn off the scoreboard. The defense was flawless, backing up the pitching effort with error-free play. This dominant win set the tone for Spalding's second game, where they would secure another blowout victory.

GAME TWO - SPALDING 22, BLACKBURN 0 
The Golden Eagles wasted no time, scoring early and often, with Tuttle and Lopez leading a relentless attack that saw runs in nearly every inning. Spalding's pitching staff was untouchable, allowing minimal baserunners and securing their second day shutout. The defense remained sharp, playing error-free baseball to back up the dominant effort on the mound. With this commanding victory, Spalding reinforced its strength in all facets of the game as they continued their strong season.

GOLDEN EAGLE NOTES
  • Jake Mueller had a complete-game shutout, allowing only three hits over seven innings while striking out eight and issuing no walks.
  • Ethan Tuttle went seven for nine from the plate and tallied five RBIs.
  • Eric Wigginton pitched five innings and had a complete-game shutout.
