Baseball grabs first SLIAC wins of the season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding baseball hosted SLIAC opponent Lyon College on Saturday. Spalding won both games.

Spalding improved to 11-7 on the season, while the Scots fell to 8-10.

GAME ONE - SPALDING 15, LYON 5
The Golden Eagles jumped ahead early with a four-run first inning, highlighted by Hunter Strong's two-run homer. They extended the lead to 7-1 by the third and broke the game open with a five-run fourth, capped by another Strong home run. Lyon scored four in the seventh, but Spalding's offense was too much, sealing the win with three more runs. Strong led with two homers and five RBIs, while Ethan Tuttle and Whitt Callahan added key hits.

GAME TWO - SPALDING 22, LYON 5
The Golden Eagles established dominance early, scoring four runs in the first and second innings. Strong led the offensive charge, hitting three home runs and amassing nine RBIs. Tuttle contributed significantly with four hits, four runs, and two RBIs, while Evan Fisher added two home runs and five RBIs.

Lyon College briefly narrowed the gap in the second inning, scoring five runs to make it 8-5. However, Spalding's pitching staff, including starter Cameron Rayborn and relievers Wesley Clark and Ethan Murphy, effectively stifled the Scots' offense in the subsequent innings.
