LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding baseball hosted SLIAC opponent Lyon College on Saturday. Spalding won both games.
Spalding improved to 11-7 on the season, while the Scots fell to 8-10.
GAME ONE - SPALDING 15, LYON 5
The Golden Eagles jumped ahead early with a four-run first inning, highlighted by
Hunter Strong's two-run homer. They extended the lead to 7-1 by the third and broke the game open with a five-run fourth, capped by another Strong home run. Lyon scored four in the seventh, but Spalding's offense was too much, sealing the win with three more runs. Strong led with two homers and five RBIs, while
Ethan Tuttle and
Whitt Callahan added key hits.
GAME TWO - SPALDING 22, LYON 5
The Golden Eagles established dominance early, scoring four runs in the first and second innings. Strong led the offensive charge, hitting three home runs and amassing nine RBIs. Tuttle contributed significantly with four hits, four runs, and two RBIs, while
Evan Fisher added two home runs and five RBIs.
Lyon College briefly narrowed the gap in the second inning, scoring five runs to make it 8-5. However, Spalding's pitching staff, including starter
Cameron Rayborn and relievers
Wesley Clark and
Ethan Murphy, effectively stifled the Scots' offense in the subsequent innings.

Spalding's relentless offense continued to dominate, adding runs in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, culminating in an eight-run sixth that sealed the 22-5 victory.
