MEMPHIS, Tn. – The Spalding University Golden Eagles secured their first win by overpowering the Oneonta Red Dragons with an 18-5 victory.
Spalding's record improved to 1-2 for the season, while Oneonta fell to 0-3.
TURNING POINT
The game commenced with Oneonta taking an early lead, scoring one run in the top of the first inning. However, Spalding responded emphatically in the bottom half, amassing six runs to establish a commanding advantage.
The Golden Eagles maintained their offensive momentum into the second inning, replicating their six-run performance and extending their lead to 12-1. Although the Red Dragons attempted a comeback with three runs in the third inning, Spalding's defense tightened, allowing only one additional run in the seventh. Meanwhile, Spalding's offense continued to excel, adding five runs in the fourth inning and one in the sixth, culminating in 16 hits for the game.
On the mound,
Jake Mueller earned the win for Spalding, effectively containing Oneonta's lineup.
